Crazy Community

Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog! This week for reading we learnt about community's and discussed questions and texts. We got to pick our task out of: Creating an event for your community, Creating a word brick or Your own ‘Be’ poem. I chose to create an event for my community. My community is the wet lands  area so I wrote about a competition where we plant as many plants we can to a high level and the winner with most trees planted in the shortest amount of time wins a wheelbarrow. Here is my work:

What is your community?

Mysterious Reading

Hi bloggers welcome back to my blog! This week for reading we learnt about instructions, we had to pick one instruction text out of five and create it but without knowing what you're creating! I chose to do an art text but I made a mistake while reading the instructions, can you spot my mistake?

What do you think I created?

Happy Hobbies?

Hi Bloggers welcome back to my blog! This week for Reading we read two articles about hobbies and how they make you happy, after that we read a challenging text about how hobbies can turn into an obsession which they thought was bad. We then had to pick a topic we were going to turn into our create, these were the options:

A top 10 poster about "Hobbies for Happiness"

A how to guide for your favourite hobby

Invent a new hobby

Write an article of fun hobbies to try during lockdown

A poster/video for the most popular hobby in 20 years from now

I chose A top ten poster about hobbies for happiness. I used Canvas info graphic to create my task. Here is my work:

Do you have a hobby?
If so what's you favourite hobby/s?
Do you think being obsessed with a hobby/s is bad?

Remarkable Reading

Hi Bloggers welcome back to my Blog! This week for Reading it was a T shaped literacy layout, We've been learning was about growth mindsets & things about Grit and determination. First we had to read a scaffolding text then two complementary texts and a challenging text that challenges the first one. After that we jumped into some tasks.

For our first task we had to pick a goal about what we had just learnt, the goals were: 1. Identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important,  2. make connections between other texts and general knowledge to expand meaning and pose questions, using more sophisticated texts. & 3. identify several ideas, discuss the author's stance or purpose, and understand relationships in the text. I chose the first goal:

Then for our actual Create we had to find a person who showed grit and determination and talk about their mindset, I chose Nelson Mandela, he definitely had a Growth Mindset because whenever he got put down he always got up again and tried his hardest. After that we had to make a DLO about our biggest take away we had around mindsets. This is my Create:

Who's someone in your life that has shown Grit?
