The trip to the Museum

The whole hub went on a trip to the museum, we went in groups and in my group I had Elise, Corinne, Lincoln B, Travis and James in my group. Me and my group looked around the museum first, it was soooo cool looking at the mummy's but terrifying because the mummy's were real. After looking around the museum we had eat time and playtime, me and my friends climbed up a tree and nearly fell off the tree ...well I nearly fell off.

After that we came in and  listened to a guy named Anthony. He told us about how Maori lived and how they made their tools. After that we did some activities. The first activities that my group did was you had a stick and a piece of wood, you needed to rub the stick onto the piece of curved wood as fast as you could and if you rubbed it really hard eventually the wood will start to get hotter and hotter until the wood gets darker.


The second activity that we did was there were drawings of animals that the Maori people drew and you needed to draw one of the drawings. The third activity was you had a stone and you had a big rock and you needed to rub the small stone on the rock really hard. Then it will become soft enough and it will be cool weapon. The second to last activity was you had a Pounam (green stone) on a stick and you had a log that was turning into a waka (Kano) and you needed to hit the log and it will turn into a waka. The last activity was you had a stick drill and a piece of wood and there was a string attached to the stick drill and you would spin the string around the drill stick and pull it until it makes a dent in the piece of wood.

Sports

On Thursday we had the institute of  of sport came in, the institute of sports do sport activates. The activates we did were multi sports, gumboot throwing, obstacle course for the girls then we moved on to tackling bags and at the end we did tug of war. My favorite part of  the sports was doing the tackling bags. It was really fun doing the sports activates.

Every week on Monday we need to start a new math board, Math boards are when we make a math story, we solve it numerically, we solve it another way and give a visual solution. This is my math boards, I am still working on it.

Explanation writing

This week for writing we are doing explanation writing. This is what I have been working on.

Hi I am Lara and I will be telling you how technology has changed the way we learn.

When I started school we only used technology for games and books, but that has changed, now I can search things up a lot quicker and I get to write on my Chromebook. Technology has changed a lot since the 1980s, 1980 was when technology was introduced into school 's. 

Phones weren’t always wireless, they were plugged into power switches on walls, so they couldn’t take their phones with them. But now we can take our phones wherever we go, I think that soon phones will evolve again and be even better than they are now,  maybe in the future there could be clear phones.

I think that technology can stop you from going outside, reading books and talking to friends . Technology is great but sometimes it is very distracting, but it is still a great thing to use. I think that technology can save people's lives, for example, Electric wheelchair, also called electric-powered wheelchair, motorized wheelchair, or power chair, any seating surface with wheels affixed to it that is propelled by an electrically based power source, typically motors and batteries. The first motor-powered wheelchairs appeared in the early 1900s; however, demand for them did not exist until after World War II, this was a quote from Encyclopedia Britannica.

In conclusion I think that the future generation will look back at today and wonder how different our life was to theirs.

This was my explanation writing, it was very fun learning new things about technology. Personally I think that sometimes we don't need to be on technology as much as we are now, but technology is still great, it help's a lot of people like me trying to find the right information.
