Lets get to know Toucans

This week for writing our task was to make a information report about toucans. This is my writing.

Hi my name is Lara and I will be telling you some cool facts about toucans.

A green-billed toucan weighs about 330 kgs which weighs over double the weight of a cheetah.
A toco toucan can be  63.5 cm or 25 inches tall, the toco toucan are the largest toucan.
Toucans' bills may be black, blue, brown, green, red, white and yellow; they also have a black and white throat similar to the black and white warbler. The toucans beak is nearly bigger than the size of its body. The toucan is obviously a bird.

The toucan lives in central america or the amazon rainforest the biggest rainforest in the world. The climate in the amazon rainforest is very hot, humid and damp. Toucans will make its home up high in the trees away from its predators and will come down to the ground sometimes.

The toucans predators are forest eagles, hawks, and owls; boas, jaguars and margays, they protect themselves with their big bills and sadly their bills attract humans to catch them for the pet trade. To also protect themselves they will use their loud voices to scare off their enemies. They also alert other toucans which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Toucans eat insects, and the eggs and nestlings of small or medium-sized birds they also eat figs, oranges, guavas, and peppers they also like to eat Preferred insects include caterpillars and termites. The toucan is in fact an omnivore.

A cool fact about toucans is, the longest bill of any bird in the world  also the toucan's bill is very light and it is made of keratin like human hair in a honeycomb-like structure which sounds awesome.

In conclusion I think that us humans should ban pet trading toucans and other animals because we can not live without a lot of animals which is why I think we should stop pet trading animals. I hope you have enjoyed reading cool facts about toucans.

Have you ever done a information report?
