Fun writing task

Last week my writing group were doing a writing task about a year one and twos favourite animal . My buddy chose a Cow. This is my work!

Pros and cons about lock down

Last week on Wednesday we went to LEVEL 4 LOCK DOWN!!! Which meant that we were not allowed to go outside of our propitiate unless we were going to get things from the supermarket, chemist, go for a small walk or essential workers. So far my lock down has been alright. The good things about being on lock down are we can sleep in on weekdays, I get to spend time with my family and I get to play with Eddie, my dog, all day. The bad things are I don't get to see my friends in person, I can't go on small bike rides by myself and I can't go clothes shopping.

This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups.
In these groups we had to work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair.
This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build
community through our actions?
We had to research ideas, be creative with our product,
experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.

I learnt that instructions need to be very specific otherwise it is going to be very hard to read
and make your product. 


Reflection on PBL:
For our Jolly Jars, my group did DIY Nightlights.
It was a lot of fun making our product because we were able to trial it to see if it would work
and it did. In my group I had Cooper, Julia and Jachai.

I contributed to my group by writing our instructions, coming up with the idea and by helping
colouring with the design.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because you can design your own DIY Nightlights.
Also it can make people feel less afraid of the dark.

What I learned about working with others was it is very different than working with your friends
in a good way, because you know less about that person/people and you probably will get
more done with that person/people.

How did we build community through our actions? We built  community by making a product
that we knew people would want to buy and the money that we razid is going to the community
bike track.

Tough kids

On Wednesday me and my friends went to tough kids, tough kids is a fun obstacle course. My favorite obstacle was there was a lake and we had walk through it and we got soaked my least favorite was there were ropes and you had to walk through it and it was PACKED. At the end there was a bouncy castle and you went over a slide to get to the end  before the slide there was a hole you had to crawl through and I got sat on but it was still a lot of FUN.

Math boards

This week we did math board. Our focus this term is multiplication and division. Here's my maths board:

 

I love doing math boards. It's really entertaining doing math problems. When you do a math board you need to make sure your sentence makes sense.

Athletics

 We had Athletics. My first rotation was sprints, I came first in my heat and at the finals I didn't make it to zones, then we did it again but it was longer, in my heat I came first and in the finals I again didn't make it to zones but it was still a blast. Then we did long distance and that was very hard for me because I had another problem i had a really bad stitch then I had trouble breathing. After that it started to spit/rain, we went to my favorite high jump, Caoimhe, Ariella, Gabrielle and I made it over the bar. We had to call it off because it was raining really hard but when we do it again I am going to try concur discs, shot put and long jump.

Term four pbl

This term our PBL driving question is: How can New Zealand's past influence our future?
We also went round in home bases and did some fun learning  activates. My favorite one was we needed to write about us on a boat on our way to Aotearoa (New Zealand)

 The early settlers

My dearest friend Autumn I am on a boat to this new island and this boat journey is crazy. I had to say farewell to my peculiar uncle Rob he had a disease called the plague. This boat ride is not fun I have to share a stained bed with this person who I don’t know and they smell like tuna because that's what we have to eat, tuna and rotten apples with wiggly worms in them. You are very lucky you’re not on this boat because the boat never stops rocking and my new stick toy Mr Wright slid off the side of the boat because it is swaying and every five minutes someone is throwing up over my side of the deck. I am very nervous because we are aboard Sir George Seymour and six or more boats have sunk and it is horrible to even set a thought about the six or more ships that have sunk into the murky water. I am currently tying ropes for the anchor and it is no fun.I hope you will one day come aboard this weird ship and come and visit and if you do, I wish you good luck. I hope your family is doing good and your sick brother too.
